The details buyers ask for
Fill the category questions once and stop answering the same message all week.
These fields change with the category. A car asks for year and mileage; a house asks for bedrooms. Filling them is optional, but an ad that leaves them blank gets the same three questions over and over.
Filling the details step
Step 1: Pick your category first. The Extra Details step only appears once Maaru knows what you are selling, which is why the step count can change from four to five.
Step 2: Answer the fields that apply. They are the questions buyers in that category always ask — year, mileage and fuel for a vehicle; bedrooms, bathrooms and floor area for a property.
Step 3: Leave anything you are unsure about blank rather than guessing. A wrong figure is worse than a missing one, because a buyer who travels to see the item and finds it different will not come back.
Step 4: These fields also feed the filters. A buyer narrowing to a 2015-or-newer car will only see your ad if the year is filled in.
What this cannot do
- Not every category has extra fields. If your category has none, the step does not appear at all and the wizard stays at four steps.
- Filling these fields does not change where your ad appears in the list. It only makes your ad findable through filters.
Watch out for
- Rounding mileage up to a neat number. Buyers compare against the odometer photo, and a mismatch reads as dishonesty even when it was carelessness.
- Guessing floor area. If you do not know it, say so in the description instead.
